Privacy Policy

SailorFanTalk is an independent supporter-run app about Lion City Sailors. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the club or the Singapore Premier League. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

You can read articles, fixtures, results and videos without an account. Until you create one we hold nothing about you. The app still loads votes, videos and their cover images from our database provider while you browse, and like any web server it sees your device's IP address when it does.

If you create an account, we hold:

• Your email address, so you can sign in and recover your account.
• Your password, stored only as a cryptographic hash by our authentication provider. Nobody at SailorFanTalk can read it, and we cannot tell you what it is.
• The display name you choose, which is shown publicly on the leaderboard.
• The scorelines you predict, and when you submitted them.
• The fact that you voted in a supporter poll. We deliberately do not record which option you chose — the vote counters have no link back to the people who moved them, so your choice cannot be recovered even by us.

What we do not collect

The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party software development kits for either.

We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, your device identifiers for advertising, or a record of what you read in the app. The app asks for access to your photos only on the admin screen used to add a video's cover image, which supporters never see.

Your notification preferences are stored on your own device and are never sent to us.

What other people can see

The predictions game is a shared competition, so some of what you do is public to other signed-in supporters:

• Your display name, your total points, and how many predictions you have made appear on the leaderboard.
• Your predicted scoreline for a match becomes visible to other players once that match has kicked off. Before kickoff it is visible only to you — that rule is enforced by the database, not merely by the app.
• Poll results are published as totals once voting closes. They never identify anyone.

Your email address is never shown to other users.

Where your information is stored

Accounts, predictions and poll records are stored with Supabase, on servers in Tokyo, Japan (Supabase region ap-northeast-1). This means your personal data is held outside Singapore.

Supabase processes this data on our behalf under its own security and data-protection commitments. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we do not share it for marketing.

Other services the app reaches

The app shows content that lives elsewhere. When it loads that content, the service concerned can see that a request was made, including your device's IP address:

• Substack, which publishes the articles, and its image service, which serves the pictures in them.
• SofaScore, which supplies fixtures and results.
• Instagram, when you tap a video to watch it or open our Instagram profile.
• Supabase, our database provider, which also serves video cover images. Cover images are chosen by our admins and are public.

These services have their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We do not send them your name, your email address or anything else about your account.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and its predictions for as long as your account exists, so that your points and history stay intact.

Changing your name, email address or password does not affect your history — all of it stays attached to the same account.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete my account. No email to us, no waiting.

Deleting removes your account, your email address, your display name, your predictions and your points, and the record that you took part in any poll. This cannot be undone.

Published poll results are not changed, because they are totals that contain nothing about any individual.

Your rights

Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act you may ask what personal data we hold about you and how it has been used, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our holding it.

The app already lets you do most of this yourself: your profile screen shows and edits everything we hold about you, and the delete option withdraws consent completely. If you would rather ask us, write to contact@sailorfantalk.app and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us at contact@sailorfantalk.app and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects or who can see it, we will update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
